Hide: Salt Lake

Kolkata had always been a foodie’s paradise. Not only because of the distinct Bengali
cuisine, but also that the city is always open to new and exotic cuisines. In the last
decades, a number of cafés have come up. Not only are they contributing (albeit
inconsiderably) to the famous adda culture of the city, but are also serving good and tasty
food. Hide is one such establishment.

Outside Hide

A tiny eatery, Hide is appropriately named. It is indeed hidden from the public eye,
though it is located in one of the busiest areas of Salt Lake. We started out by ordering
Chilli Cheese Toast, and a glass of strawberry shake. The service was quite slow, due
to insufficient manpower, and it took them quite a while to serve us. The Chilli Cheese
Toast contained 8 pieces a plate, and was basically a mixture of cottage and breakfast
cheese, vegetables and herbs. Though it had quite an impressive aroma, it was a little too
bland. The shake on the other hand was perfect!

Next we ordered a plate of American Chopsuey. The amount was quite generous, but a
bit disproportionate. The quantity of the crispy noodles served was comparatively lesser
than the gravy. But taste-wise, the preparation was a real winner!

American Chicken Chopsuey

The best was yet to come though. We ordered a plate of Chicken Arrabiata Pasta. It had
beautiful and aromatic red gravy with vegetables and pieces of chicken. We could not
resist digging in as soon as it was served to us, and it tasted even better than it looked!
Also, there was a glass of sinful and delicious Thick Chocolate Shake to wash it down
with.

The bill was Rs.490, and was worth every paisa we paid.
