China White's is a brand, often associated with hookah. Few know, that it has a restaurant that serves Chinese food as well. We went on a Friday evening to explore the food of the place.
The decor is very oriental with three Buddha heads adorning the entrance. There are wall hangings and lanterns with Chinese inscriptions on them. The place is dimly lit and it has got soft music playing through. We were seated at a centre table, where we could get a good view of the restaurant. It is a good choice to both dine and lunch at.
We ordered the Spinach Cheese Roll and the Chef's Special Sea Food Platter. The sea food platter has a good tangy flavour and and diced prawns, fish fillet and squid in it. The Spinach Cheese Roll had mixture of cottage cheese and spinach in a rolled wanton. We had a blue lagoon cocktail to go with it and Four Seasons Wine with it. Unfortunately, we were served the Shiraz wine instead of the Chenin Blanc, which would enhance the flavour. We asked for a change and it was given. However, the glasses weren't changed, so the wine's flavour got adulterated. The cocktail, however, was a great choice.
For the mains, we ordered Konjee Crispy Lamb with Signature Whiskey. The lamb was tender and not too crispy and it got a good flavour from the sauce of the dish. It tasted lip-smacking with the Signature Whiskey. We also ordered a plate of Prawn Tobanjan which was not very spicy and was light. The prawns were well cooked.
We had a brief tete-a-tete with the manager who told us that the restaurant made all the dishes with fresh ingredients which is why they tasted so well.
We ended our meal with a helping of Toffee Walnut, which is a toasted and sugar coated wall nut, served with a helping of vanilla ice-cream. It was the perfect ending to the great meal!
