The Story of Scotch- A Sip of History with Black Dog!

Every non-Scottish lover of scotch must have wondered how the dainty drink came into existence. Well….it is definitely not something your history text books might tell you, but don’t you worry, In Sensed will ! Scotland has been the home to a number of tribes including the mighty Vikings and the Celts. The Celtic pagan rituals involved the drinking of the uisge beatha or the ‘water of life’. This brew, over the ages has evolved to become what we know as Scotch whisky.

The earliest recorded instance of large-scale distillation dates back as early as 1494, in the tax records of the age. Over the years, the whisky industry underwent a number of legal alterations. However, it was the Excise Act of 1823, which proved to be a turning point. It not only attempted to do away with illegal distilleries, but in the process, ushered in a new era of Scotch whisky production. Today, this exquisite liquor is savoured all over the world.

Black Dog Scotch whisky was first introduced to the market in 1883. There was no looking back since! Needless to say, that Black Dog has taken the world by storm today. Be it a quiet evening with your friends, or a glittering party at a five star restaurant- can it be complete without a few drinks of Black Dog?
